Good writing

In my opinion, I believe that good writing is the author's ability to successfully paint a picture in the reader's head with the words they choose. The details and the imagery used should be able to provide the audience with a clear description of what is happening. Good writing also includes the author's ability to get the reader to almost connect with some of the characters as if they actually knew them. The little unique details about people and objects in the story are what make it feel more realistic. An example of good writing would be if the author includes a description of a sunrise but is able to go beyond just the color. They describe the warmth of the sun, the strength of its brightness, the way it casts shadows, things of that nature. To me, good writing is based on the strength of the details. The details can make or break a story depending on how many are included.
